The mission of the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at North Country Bible Fellowship is to model the love and compassion of Christ, and to share that love by providing free supplemental food and hygiene items to those who are in need. Our mission is usually short term, stopgap help for those struggling to make ends meet. In all cases, modeling the love and compassionate character of Christ is to be as much a part of our mission as the tangible food that we give.

The Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry at North Country Bible Fellowship is a ministry of the church supported by voluntary donations from church members, other churches in the community, service organizations and the community at large. The pantry provides non-perishable and frozen food, basic toiletry necessities (soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) and basic cleaning necessities (dish and laundry soaps, etc.) on an as available, as needed basis.

The food pantry is open to all seeking service. Any children (under age 18) must be accompanied by an adult. It is meant as short-term, stopgap help. Visits are generally limited to twice a month. Long-term relief is usually outside the scope of our mission.

The Food Pantry relies on voluntary donations of goods and money to maintain our inventory. Therefore, Pantry items are limited and all types of items may not be available at all times. Items often available include a variety of canned vegetables, soups and stews, meats and fish, fruit, etc. Items that also may be available include pasta, rice, beans, flour, sugar, baking mixes, breakfast cereals, peanut butter and jellies/jams, pasta sauces, snack items, and a variety of condiments. A freezer may contain bread, rolls, meat, poultry, etc. Items are available on a first come, first served basis. Due to the limited availability of items such as meats, persons receiving food pantry items are reminded that others are also in need and all are requested to limit the items they choose. Pantry volunteers will accompany each person to assist them in selecting items and may limit the number of items that they are permitted to select.

On the first visit to the Pantry, all persons requesting goods will be asked to complete a registration form. The individual information requested on this form is for statistical purposes and is held in strict confidence by the Food Pantry Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator. In addition, all those receiving goods from the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry are required to sign their name on a log sheet each time they request assistance from the Pantry, prior to receiving their items.

Requests for assistance from the Pantry are limited to two times per month. Persons who feel that they need additional assistance in exceptional circumstances are instructed to contact the Pantry Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator. The Pantry Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator can be reached by calling (518) 548-5777.
